Welcome to Tickenhall Alpacas
Tickenhall Alpacas was established in 2003 and is set on 20 acres of rich loam in the charming hamlet of Bayles, “gateway to Gippsland”. Tickenhall is a family-run business owned by Ann and Trevor Parry. Our daughter, Siân, works with us in the business, primarily by halter-training our animals and then handling our alpacas in the show ring. We are successful breeders of white and coloured suri; we also run a small herd of huacaya. We fell in love with the stunning suri quite some time after purchasing and breeding our first alpacas. To see them flying around the paddocks with their long locks moving with them is a great gift. We now say, quite clearly, that suri is our passion. Our property has been designed for ease of management and provides an excellent example of how to manage alpaca on a small acreage. We have year-round prime pasture, secure fencing and ample water. All our alpaca follow a strict health regimen and are in optimum condition. We keep full records of all our animals in order to know them well, but also to enable us to make continued gains in genetic enhancement. We joined Q-Alpaca as a means of ensuring quality. The Johne’s Disease Market Assurance Plan (JD MAP) is another important means of quality control. We are also monitored MN3 (monitored negative) on the JD MAP. We work closely with a specialised vet, who is available to us at any time.
